The Learning Fund Foundation raised money for the district's "Science Initiative" ensuring that D103 has the equipment needed to be academically competitive with local districts that already have enhanced science curriculum. Items included: iPads, carts, and applications
Formed by the unique collaboration of the Foundation, School District 103, the Village of Lincolnshire and the State of Illinois. "The Rivershire Nature Center has become an all-purpose nature classroom." (Chicago Tribune, March 1999). This 15-acre natural area sits on the east bank of the Des Plaines River and provides a hands-on environmental learning opportunity beyond the classroom.
The Learning Fund Foundation purchased state-of-the-art teaching technology for classrooms in Laura B. Sprague, Half Day, and Daniel Wright Middle School. The interactive whiteboard operates as part of a system that includes a document camera, interactive whiteboard, computer, projector and software to create a collaborative learning experience for students and teachers.
Funded the creation of a fitness center and climbing wall at Daniel Wright Junior High School, new playground equipment at Half Day School and gym equipment and new basketball goals at Laura B. Sprague School. Included the Whole Foods Healthy Lunch Program at Daniel Wright Junior High School.
Provided seed-funding for HEPCO. HEPCO enables students to publish their stories into bound books, a program now maintained by the District 103 PTO.
Snap Circuits kits were featured as part of the organization’s fundraising efforts to support its educational programs and initiatives.
Addressed the unique fine arts curriculum for all students including the addition of core classes focusing on drama, visual arts and dance as a complement to the existing music and arts program. Expanded artist-in-residence and Fine Arts Day.
Over 400 people enjoyed the “Fire & Ice” show by Mad Science of Northern Illinois, six interactive science stations, and science lesson demos in the DW Library. Families appreciated experiencing how their LFF donations are directly benefitting students in the classroom. Raffle ticket sales and silent auction items contributed over $1,200 to the LFF Science Initiative!
The Learning Fund Foundation organized the “Strikes 4 Science” fundraising event for School District 103 families and friends, successfully raising $12,616. The funds will support future science and technology enhancements
Through the Lincolnshire Morning Star Rotary Club, LFF raised money for District 103 with a golfing scramble and auction.
